Before we go into the topic of how to see Firefox saved passwords or Chrome stored passwords, let’s see how to save the password in a browser.
How To Save Passwords On Chrome
If we are log in the first time on a website from the chrome browser and did not save password yet, then it asks for ‘Do you want Google Chrome to save your password for this site?’. If you click on Save button then this action will save passwords on Chrome.
How To Save Passwords On Firefox
To save the passwords in the Firefox is also the same process as in chrome browser. Enter your login details on the website and click the Save button.
By this way, you can store all your passwords on your favorite browser. No need to remember your login details. Eash time whenever you visit the website login page, the browser will pre-filled your login credentials.
Where Does Firefox Saved Passwords
If you wish to see where firefox saved passwords for your websites, go to Setting->Options->Security. Alternatively, you can type about:preferences#security
in browser URL.
Click on Saved Logins. It will open a pop-up window with a list of all Firefox saved passwords. To view the website passwords, click on the Show Passwords.
From here, you can remove the stored passwords. Just select the website which password you want to delete and click on the Remove button.
Where Does Chrome Store Passwords
To get the list of all Chrome stored passwords, go to Settings->Advanced->Manage Passwords. You can also type chrome://settings/passwords
in the browser URL. After this, you will see the settings page of Chrome manage passwords.
Click on More Actions icon next to the website. Select Details, it will open a pop-up where you can see the stored password of a website. Click on the eye icon to get your password.
To remove passwords from chrome, Just click the Remove and Chrome will delete this stored password.
Additionally, if you have little knowledge about the HTML and browser console then you can use browser console to view your saved passwords.
Open your browser console, inspect your password field, change the password type to text. It will display your password on a login page.
